Firefox 27.0.1. Ebay sign in page, sometimes works ok, sometimes loops going back to the ebay sign in page over and over and over for 15 minutes or more. Sometimes when it is looping if you wait a few minutes and then try again it works. Sometime it will make me sign in on almosr every action on ebay. For instance - sign in and go to "my ebay". Go to "selling" - sign in again.

Cleared cache, deleted cookies, restarted Firefox, disabled addons and extensions and it still happens. been this way for months.

Does not happen with IE or Chrome. I run XP w/ SP3 so the newest version of IE I can use (according to Microsoft) is IE8.

I hate Chrome, huge program takes up a lot of disk spaces and loads slower than tar in January through a straw in Alaska.

I have read the posts about this issue and this appears to have been going on for years - I see posts from 2006 about the same problem.

Someone needs to address this glitch and find a permanent fix. This is the biggest issue with Firefox and one that is really annoying as I have to screw around with it for my wife to use her ebay account.

Second annoying thing with Firefox in Youtube videos going to black fuzzy screen with "error occurred" message that requires an hour worth of resetting and restarting to cure.

This can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked (check the permissions on the about:permissions page).

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

It is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted if clearing cookies doesn't work.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

I did the first part, delete cach, cookies, etc. No difference.

I ran "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\" and came up with the following files with sqlite in them -

cookies.sqlite, content-prefs.sqlite, cookies.sqlite-shm, cookies.sqlite-wal, formhistory.sqlite, healthreport.sqlite, healthreport.sqlite-shm, healthreport.sqlite-wal, permissions.sqlite, places.sqlite, places.sqlite-shm, places.sqlite-wal, places.sqlite-wal, webappsstore.sqlite, webappsstore.sqlite-shm, webappsstore.sqlite-wal

I can rename cookies.sqlite , but d I delete all the rest of them with the .sqlite in the name?

You need to check the profile folder when Firefox is closed because the sqlite-shm and sqlite-wal files are SQLite temp files that should only be present when Firefox is running.

You should leave all other SQLite files alone as they all store different kind of data (i.e. places.sqlite stores bookmarks and history).

OK. I closed Firefox and I have the following files left.

content-prefs.sqlite, cookies.sqlite, formhistory.sqlite, healthreport.sqlite, signons.sqlite, webappsstore.sqlite

What should I leave and what should I delete?

This is about cookies, so you only need to rename or delete the cookies.sqlite file.

Don't you have a permissions.sqlite file?

Hello,

Nope, not that I see. I listed every sqlite file in the profile.
