I like to set my monitor settings to monochrome (black and white) and browse as such. In firefox, text field when highlighted appear scrambled. It is a particularly troublesome on facebook but the search fields in the browser are affected too. It only glitches when monochrome is set, not when browsing in full colour.

I am running firefox v. 26.0 on Mac OS 10.6.8

Chosen solution

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).

You can do a check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:
