
How can I get rid of the Firefox icon in the notifications tray? I don't mean just hiding it, I mean disabling or uninstalling it.
It's taking up space and memory, and I don't need it. For me, it's not useful in any way.

You have an extension named "MinimizeToTray revived (MinTrayR)" that has this purpose. You can disable or remove it on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.

Strange, i never saw firefox icon in my notification tray, but to remove the icon do this:
First you need open the Registry Editor:
Go to Start, Execute, type "regedit":

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
And in the right side of window delete two files:
- IconStrems
- PastIconsStream
