Chosen solution

Could this be caused by an add-on? You might want to try Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Plugins like Flash will still run)

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

Hello rgregg50, check in about:config the network.websocket.allowInsecureFromHTTPS and if it is true, double-click on it to make it False (default).

thank you

Thank you for your tip ideato but False was already set as the default. Any other ideas as the problem still exists? I have also tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling the latest version (26).

Thank you jscher2000. I tried your suggestion and found that the add-on YouTube Flash to HTML5 67.9 was causing the error message so I disabled it and everything is back to normal.

Thanks again!

Solution to <error: The operation is insecure> Corrected this by disabling a YouTube High-Def plugin.

I just wanted to chime in on this thread. I'm using FF 30 w Win 7

Today I was prompted by YouTube to install the High-Def plug in, after which I immediately began getting this error message on basically every site I visited.

I went one step further than disabling the YouTube High-Def plugin by actually uninstalling it. Didn't need it before; don't need it now!

FWIW,
