Why don't all my bookmarks import?

When I try importing my bookmarks from IE, they fail to import & I only end up with an empty folder labelled 'From Internet Explorer'. I do have the EverSync add-on installed so I can back up my bookmarks in case something goes wrong. I have 447 bookmarks stored on there, but I am only able to restore 325 of them in Firefox. This particular add-on works for Chrome also, & I tested it in there to see if it was the add-on. I was able to get all 447 of my bookmarks, so I know this particular issue isn't caused by that specific add-on. I'm pretty sure it isn't plug-in or add-on related, but perhaps I'm mistaken. I've been using Firefox for a long time & never have experienced a problem like this before with it. I'd love to keep using Firefox, but would like the bookmark issue resolved please. Thanks.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
    File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox:
    Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

Ok, I did try that, it did import them from the HTML file, however there are still some missing from my list. I could see the links in the HTML file (nothing was missing there) & I could also access any of the links in the HTML file. The problem is it doesn't seem to show up in Firefox for some unknown reason. Also, some of my bookmarks seem to not function. It looks normal, but when I click on it, nothing happens. When I looked at the properties of such a bookmark, everything was blank, yet the bookmark & name is still in my bookmarks list. This is strange because I can use them fine in Chrome & IE 10, but not in Firefox. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks for the help so far. :)

Ok, thank you everybody. I've installed the Places Maintenance add-on & it fixed the problem I was having. I then removed all my bookmarks & restored all of them with the EverSync add-on. Thanks for the help & problem solved. :D
