How do I turn firefox off?

gbiggs

I downloaded an update to my Adobe Flash Player. Adobe snuck in a McAfee anti-virus software package, which I definitely do not want. When I use Programs and Features in the Control Panel to remove the plug-in, the system (Vista 64-bit) tells me that I must first turn off Firefox. I don't seem to be able to locate such an option.

hello gordon, please try to reboot your computer and uninstall the McAfee package from the control panel immediately afterwards.

Hi, Philipp --

I tried launching IE (a second time), and this enabled me to delete the software via the Control panel. It had not worked the first time, which is why I posted the question.

But, I now have another option (thanks to you), if I run into this again!

Many thanks for your prompt post.
