How to make [Search Mozilla Support] honor specification of a phrase?
Many search facilities will honor a phrase. If I specify "tab character" [including the quote marks!], they will search for the phrase "tab character" and only return links to documents with that phrase. As I discovered when trying to answer a question about controlling how the tab character is rendered, the search function in Mozilla support returns links to everything dealing with browser tabs. I tried using s-quote marks rather than d-quote marks, but that did not help. I could not find any button with a name like "Advanced" to get more control over the search. So far as I can tell, [Search Mozilla Support] insists on treating the phrase "tab character" as a search for anything with the word "tab" or the word "character".

Look on top for Contributor Tools -> Advanced Search -> select Support Questions as it defaults to Knowledge base.

Yes, using quotes to specify a search term is one of the most wanted features for me (and probably a lot of others) on this forum, but it still hasn't been implemented.
Only a Google site search will work to search for a multi-word phrase enclosed in quotes.
The pointer to [Contributor Tools][Advanced Search] is helpful, but it still does not solve the problem that searching for "foo bar" is misinterpreted as searching for {either "foo" or "bar"}.
Thanks for the info, cor-el. It is nice to know that the deficiency really is in the search engine rather than my own wetware.

Yes, specifying that the site is "support.mozilla.org" on Google's Advanced Search Page does work around the failing in Mozilla's own search.

is helpful for getting to the Advanced Search page on Google quickly, w/o having to do a sacrificial plain search first and w/o having to type in the site.
