Stop firefox from asking to use adobe reader for pdf's.

I have already set Firefox to use the adobe reader for pdf's. It still asks what program to use to open pdf's. Is there another setting I'm missing? IE doesn't do this. I prefer to use Firefox. It would be great to remove this nuisance.

Thanks

I think the above control panel was added in Windows Vista.

If you already see an Adobe Reader icon for PDFs on your system (e.g., on the desktop), then you shouldn't need to make any changes at the system level.

In the Application options, can you use the search box above the list to filter down to anything that contains or PDF in the name or content type? Long-time users may have conflicting preferences carried over from Firefox 18 and earlier and may need to change more than one entry.

Does this happen with all PDFs on all sites? If it varies by site, some websites may not be sending the official "application/pdf" content type header with the PDF. Firefox will always show the dialog if the site gives a generic "binary file" content type. There is an extension you can use to override this. Here's an example of how to set that up for .torrent files, and you might be able to do the same with .pdf file (switch their content type to application/pdf): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/971694#answer-486951
