firefox redirects to page after clear cache, reset, reinstall

more options

Only in Firefox (checked in chrome and ie 10), and only on this computer, when I try to go to this page: caroliniancanada.ca/calendar, I am redirected to calendar.com.

OS: windows 8

I have tried the following: clear cache, history, passwords etc. (I cleared everything after backing up my bookmarks) run firefox in safemode run firefox in safemode in windows 8 safemode reset firefox reinstall firefox w/o any saved or backup data

This issue still persists.

I am currently running a Norton scan, and will run malware bytes afterwards. Nothing but a few tracking cookies have been found so far.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Before attempting your fix: added notes: - http://caroliniancanada.ca/calendar/ goes to the correct location (a php calendar app installed on the server) - www.caroliniancanada.ca/calendar seems to open google search for the address - http://caroliniancanada.ca/calendar or http://www.caroliniancanada.ca/calendar open calendar.com

After attempting your fix: - http://caroliniancanada.ca/calendar now redirects to the correct location - http://www.caroliniancanada.ca/calendar still directs to calendar.com - the webserver SHOULD be redirecting all traffic from www to non-www.

Conclusions: I think this is indeed a server redirect error. I just tried it again in a new combination on Chrome, and it seems that if I type in www.caroliniancanada.ca/calendar or http://www.caroliniancanada.ca/calendar than I am taken to a 'not found' page that suggests calendar.com . It seems as if Firefox is simply forcing a reload into calendar.com rather than providing an error.

I am now able to replicate this on my other firefox machine by going to http://www.caroliniancanada.ca/calendar , so I'll mark this solved and try and figure out what is up with my redirects. Yay hair pulling! Needed a haircut anyway...

Wow, what a frustrating way to discover a server error! Thanks again for your quick help!

The site does redirect from

http://caroliniancanada.ca/calendar

to

http://caroliniancanada.ca/calendar/

But that should be the extent of it. If you start with the second URL, does it still redirect to calendar.com?

Can you check on whether Firefox is set to the default connection method?

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

Click the small "Network" tab then the "Settings" button. The default setting is "Use system proxy settings"; you also could try "No proxy".
