unable to print coupon from purina mills
My wife and I have both signed up for the Purina Mills rewards program so we receive quarterly coupons for our chicken feed but we are unable to print them if using Firefox. We are able to print them if using Internet Explorer (which I hate). When I click on the link to print in the email it opens a new tab and an error message appears. This is what we get.
It appears Java is either disabled or not installed. Please enable both Java and JavaScript before attempting to print the coupon. To download Java, click here.
We have downloaded Java, over and over and over and over etc. but still this same message. Our version of firefox is up to date as well. Does anyone have an idea of how to solve this? I have spent so much time trying to figure this out and am beyond frustrated! Thanks in advance!

Hi bluegrass_fan76, plugin content such as Java, Flash, and PDF, have occasionally been used for security exploits, so if you don' t need a plugin very often, it's probably best to keep it deactivated.
Firefox has an option called "click to play" where you can get a prompt in the address bar to approve a plugin for a particular site. Once you turn it on, a third choice appears on the drop-down with "always activate" and "never activate": "ask to activate".
I'm not sure of the easiest way to try this out, but here is the main setting you need to change:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste plug and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the plugins.click_to_play preference to switch it from false to true.
You're done there. When you return to the Add-ons tab, Plugins list, you can now use the "Ask to Activate" option.

Can you check your Add-ons page to see whether Java is deactivated?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
The one you want to find and, if necessary switch to Always Activate, is "Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U25".
Any luck?
If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Thanks for your help! It did work but I'm wondering if we should deactivate Java when we are not needing to use it to print the coupons as the warnings from Firefox seem to indicate some potential serious issues involved in using it? Do you know what the risks are that they refer to? Thanks again so much!

Took me a couple days to get to this but I did make the change you suggest and I thank you for taking the time to share it.
