I have a Mozilla Persona account and I thought it would work across all Mozilla websites. I had to create a new account just to ask this question here on the Support site. Does Persona not work on the Support site? And if not... why? Shouldn't the Persona account apply to ALL Mozilla products? If I missed the sign in link, please direct me to it.

Hi,

Unfortunately you can't sign into the SUMO website with a Mozilla Persona. But you have a very good point there that you should be able to.

Sorry about that!

@cyborg4, thanks I just wanted to bring this to someone's attention & be confirmed that I wasn't missing something. lol. I would have thought that Persona would have been executed throughout all Mozilla properties first as a test and a way to market the product. Thanks for the reply. :)

@cor-el, I read through that bug but could not be clear if they are going to implement Persona in all Mozilla properties. Seemed like a lot of "maybe this or maybe that" going on. Since it's not a closed bug can I guess they may be adding it in?

So I came here to check on a few problems and wondered if we could sign in with Persona yet and I don't see that it is active? Just wondering.

However while signing in I noticed that this page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/users/auth says "You don't need to register to ask a question." but the link takes you to a wizard that eventually requires you to register. And this page says you do have to register; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/get-community-support

Someone should fix that, it's confusing.

Sorry, using Persona to sign-in here at SUMO still hasn't been set up yet. AFAIK, the only Mozilla sub-domain where Persona is active is the Persona part of Mozilla, I haven't seen it used any where else.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/users/auth is wrong. A bug was filed quite awhile ago, but that page hasn't been fixed yet.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/get-community-support is correct.

It is the difference between asking a question in general (searching for an answer to a problem) and asking for assistance on the forum.
Posting the forum requires to register.

When you start the AAQ process to ask a question then you are presented with search results about your question as a check if the question already has been asked before and if a suitable answer is available that works for you then you do not need to register to finish the AAQ process, but can stop there.
