HOW DO I STOP SMARTPHONE ADS FROM LOADING AND SLOWING FIREFOX FROM FIRING UP?
When I start Firefox the homepage has a search function field in the middle of the screen. Firefox then freezes until an ad for some sort of smartphone app appears under the search function field. It takes a few seconds for this to take place and then all goes ahead rather smoothly. I would like to fore go the ads as I do not have a smartphone.

Disable or uninstall Television Fanatic Under Firefox button => Addons => Extenstions and uninstall it from the control panel, thank you for providing troubleshooting info too.

You also might want to reset your search preferences and delete a possible user.js file.
