Why is my tab bar frozen? No button on it works while other menus work fine.

At one point while using it, firefox started to slow down and stop working. So i restarted it. When it came open, it is super slow, the tab sliding bar doesnt work, the buttons on it wont either. everything else seems to work fine but slowly. Youtube videos freeze aswell playing only sound. is this a problem with flash or browser itself? In addition, the message boxes that pop up, also show no change, like graphics of it are seriously frozen but functions are not. same thing with trying to change a tab. it changes the tab but i cant see anything to see that it actually did. is firefox fucked? This also happens with a new window. im posting this with *ugh* ...chrome... because firefox is completely unusable at this time. Help, i dont want to use chrome ever again :C

Hello,

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

What you should try doing is delete your history, that might speed up your internet on your browser. Then please rate me if you can.
