I am trying to t/f all my firefox info, bookmarks, and security passwords from 1 pc to a laptop. I have followed setting up a profile, backing it up, saving it on a remote disc ... Then I have tried to setup a new profile on the laptop, but I cant as the sub directories you list do not exisit I have Win 7 on both, 64 bit, but the users\appdata subdir is not there, so I cannot setup a profile Also, the 'run' command of running firefox.exe-p also doesnt exist Help!!

Im following your instructions but they just dont work

You might need to turn on viewing of hidden files first in order to find that folder. By default, the AppData folder is hidden.

On Windows 7, you can make hidden files and folder visible using Windows Explorer:

Organize > Folder and search options > View tab or
Tools menu > Folder options > View tab

At that point, you should see radio buttons to hide or not hide. After unhiding, AppData will become visible in your Windows user folder.

Any luck?

When starting Firefox with any command-line switches, make sure there is a space before each hyphen or slash, i.e.,

firefox.exe -p
firefox.exe /ProfileManager

firefox.exe-p

Note that you need to place a space between firefox.exe and the -P command line switch: firefox.exe -P

You may need to use the full path:

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P
