tried re setting now I can't get passed an error on loading "the proxy server is refusing connections"
I tried the "reset Firefox" button and now I can't get Firefox it to load. Keep getting error "The proxy server is refusing connections". I am not on a lan network, just a computer at my home, how can I fix this?

Check the connection settings.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
See "Firefox connection settings":
I've been having the same problem for about a week now. Each time, I go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Settings, and change from "use system proxy settings" to "auto-detect proxy settings" which works until the following day when it somehow magically goes back to "use system proxy settings" and will NOT allow me to sign on. So I have to go through this routine daily. Don't know how to make it stop automatically going back to system proxy settings.
