OK Maybe I had invalid info but is it true that the new version of FF will get rid of the Menu Bar and FORCE tab at the top? Please dear god in heaven do not do something so stupid! If I wanted to use a browser with a crappy design like Chrome I would be using Chrome. Damn if the powers that be turn FF into Chrome Junior I have to force myself to use IE as crappy as it is. Why in the hell is FF forcing people to use a UI the way FF wants it to be anyway?

Mozilla is not forcing you to do anything! It is just the default pref.

Enter about:config into the firefox location bar and hit Enter
(confirm the info message in case it shows up)
Search for the preference named browser.tabs.onTop & toggle it to false by double-clicking it.

Thank you for the reply. I understand you can change that in the current version. In fact you do not even have to use your method, there is a menu option that toggles the tabs on top. I am addressing the future of FF which is rumored to become a clone of Chrome. I believe it is to start somewhere around version 25 or so. There are several stories across the net about these coming changes. I really prefer that FF not turn itself into Chrome Light.

Sorry, I misread your initial posting, I didn't realize you were talking about changes coming along in 5 months. support.mozilla.org doesn't have an active forum for discussing pre-release builds at this time.

The entire UI of Firefox is going to be changed in Firefox 25.0 come October 2013, and it looks like user's will be stuck with Tabs on Top with no way to revert. This topic is actively being discussed in the MozillaZine Builds forum, under the topic of Australis customization (or lack of thereof).

Quite honestly I thing that is a big mistake, and I suspect that I will be switching to the Firefox 24 ESR version as my primary browser when Firefox 24 is released. My thinking is that I will have an additional 36 weeks of use of the current UI until I have to make the choice of using an older, no longer supported version or switching to a different browser. I am hoping that Mozilla will "come to its' senses" before Firefox 31 is released and un-do the "damage" to Firefox before that.

Well it seems totally absurd for FF to make such a dramatic change in programming structure. Not so much in making tab on top, but in FORCING tabs on top. The basic underlying beauty of FF is that the programmers (to date) have allowed end users total flexibility in styling the product to their desired UI. Now they are adopting a convention of locking things they way they personally prefer them. This is the EXACT reason a huge number of people have dropped other browsers in favor of FF. It is 100% totally asinine and absurd for FF to make such a change. Actually it is rather childish as well.

though it's probably already a decided issue (see bug #755593), please use https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback to voice such kind of feedback, since it will be monitored by mozilla's staff - here on the support forum we are mostly volunteer contributors who cannot influence such decisions...

Thanks but I don't see it as worth the effort at this point. It seems that the programmers at FF have adopted a very closed minded approach moving forward. All I can think is there has been some sort of coup d' etat there and lesser minds have prevailed. It is sad because until now FF has been a very nice and user friendly browser.
