How to remove ZoneAlarm? Removed from control panel and addons.
Somehow ZoneAlarm has been added to Firefox. I removed ZoneAlarm from control panel and from Mozilla Firefox add-ons but it is still there. It may have been added when I downloaded a program call Living Cookbook.
Chosen solution
In addition (see my second post/reply above) to removing ZoneAlarm from the search box, I went to Tools/Options and found that ZoneAlarm was listed in the Home Page box. I changed it to https://www.google.com/ and now it appears ZoneAlarm is gone!

Remove ZoneAlarm
In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
- From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select Add-ons, or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the Tools menu and click Add-ons.
- Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the Extensions button on the left side of the window.
- You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
- To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the Remove button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
- Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the Restart now link in the message.

hello no1texan, there is a user.js file present in your profile folder that is used to override your preferences - you can remove it like this, then your custom settings for the homepage will apply:
go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information, click on profile folder/show folder and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there delete the file named user.js.
for more information you can also refer to How to fix preferences that won't save.
Question owner
I have already removed the extension but Search by ZoneAlarm remains. It replaced the Google search in the top far right search box. However just this moment I clicked on the down arrow in the box which lists the various search engines and ZoneAlarm is listed. Then I selected Manage Search engines at the bottom and was able to click on ZoneAlarm and delete. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
