Simply I want the option to control how many tiles are there. Nine is ok, but 16, 25, and maybe 36 would be great for options. With the choice of smaller thumbnails or a scrolling screen. Personally I'd like a 16 (4 by 4) That i could scroll down if I wanted to add more rows. Also the auto populate could get you in trouble with naughty pop-ups. Being able to turn off auto-populate would be nice as well. If that is already an option I haven't found it yet.

hello EanSeki, you can manually set the number of thumbnails that should show up. enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preferences named browser.newtabpage.columns & browser.newtabpage.rows. double-click and change them to your liking.

you can also manually import and pin custom sites to all the available thumbnail spots - then nothing unforeseen should pop in. therefore simply drag and drop entries from your toolbar or the bookmarks library onto spots on the new tab bar...
