In some earlier version of firefox it was available that just typing a word/s would open best suited website as per user preferences or location preferences, instead of opening google search page now. Can it be able now? e.g.: "fox wikipedia" will directly open fox page in wikipedia.

i agree to your reply but i want directly words entered to be open instead of google or other search pages to be opened.

e.g. fox wikipedia should directly open fox page in wikipedia.

may it be possible by logic of opening first search result of google directly by firefox instead of manually clicking on google results.

it was available on some earlier versions of firefox (may be firefox 3.5 or something), and that was awesome to browse on firefox.

Single words may be resolved as domains, but multiple words will be sent to the keyword.URL service. In the early days, the Google "Lucky" search may have taken you automatically to the top result for your query, then there was "browse by name," now there is just search. To test out the old variants, see cor-el's links, especially the third one.

I personally prefer to keep keyword search disabled (keyword.enabled = false) and let the fix up do its thing.
If that doesn't work then I rather have the error page then being taken automatically to some website.
If I want to force a search via the location bar then I use a one character keyword (g) to do a Google search.
You could of course also define a keyword to do a Google Lucky search.
