how do I stop Firefox message to download latest versio of Firefox everytime I open Firefox?
Since downloading Firefox 3.6.28, each time I open Firefox I get a message window suggesting I download the latest version of Firefox. I must decline the suggestion before I can proceed. How do I stop the Firefox message window from popping up when I open Firefox? I use Mac OX 10.6.8

Upgrade Firefox.
Thank you. I have now dowloaded Firefox 20 three times. At least that's what shows on my download log. The message still appears, the browser software is still identified as 3.6.28, and I am unable to see any updated Firefox software on my hard drive, other than the version downloaded a year ago. When downloaded (or not) it does not appear on my desktop.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
- Firefox 20.0: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox ##apl to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
