I'm not allowed to edit bookmarks. Safari and IE let us add or delete bookmarks - shouldn't Firefox let us do the same?

If you can't do this via the right-click context menu then do this in the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Show All Bookmarks).

Works just like navigating in Windows Explorer, adding, deleting and modifying folders and files. Thanks for info.

Within MacOS 10.6.8, there is no properties submenu. There is nothing when clicking the bookmark using any of CMD, Opt, Ctl .... Firefox simply goes straight away to the selected bookmark.

I have been able to copy, cut, paste (thus move) or delete bookmarks in 10.6.8. I have not been able to rename them once bookmarked. Go to bookmarks in the menu at the top. Click on show all bookmarks. Right click (or control click) on the bookmark you want to change. A list of choices appears for you to click on.

Just found out how to rename a bookmark. Open the bookmark in a new tab. At the right will be a star. Click on the star and there you are.

Did you look in the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks)?

You should be able to edit all properties in the Details pane at the bottom right after selecting a bookmark.

Something added about 4500 duplicate bookmarks, pointing to some page on a forum using .php. It mentioned: resource://gre/components/nsTaggingService.js.312

Trying to delete one entry took 3-4 minutes. Trying to highlight several at once took 3-4 minutes, and deleting them took longer. Of course, I couldn't tell if they were actually being deleted.

I shut down everything else running on the computer. Selected the first instance, then scrolled down to the last. Took about 3 minutes to scroll down, selecting them all using <shift><down>. Took about three minutes. Right clicked and hit <delete>. Turned off the light and went to bed. This morning, all were gone! I immediately backed up the bookmarks to both json and html.

Anyone ever ha any experience with nsTaggingService? Never heard of it and cannot find an actual reference to it.

Thanks for listening, -- Doc
