Why do I always automatically get redirected to French pages?

When I type in a .com address (or any other non French extension) I automatically get redirected to a .fr address and I really hate this. If I want a French site I'll ask for it, I don't need others to decide what I want. Sorry, nothing personal, that's just my frustration speaking. I've set Google.com on the opening page and it worked fine until now. When I open an extra tab I don't get redirected to .fr so it's probably not your doing, I just hope you have a solution for this very annoying feature.

Thanks for the suggestions but nothing did the trick, I'm still getting the fr site. Even when I change the address in the location bar into .com they send me to .fr. Any other tips and tricks are very welcome but I'm afraid it's really a Google problem.

This was exactly what I needed. I'm just a bit ashamed that I didn't find this solution myself. Bur you're my hero now, thanks a lot.
