When I have firefox open, even on google home page, a small window opens and closes, "flashes" very fast. what is it, how can i find out what it is and stop it.
I am on mac OSX 10.6.8 and running firefox 19.0.2 I have only two add-ons and they have been on longer than the issue, the two add-ons are addblock plus 2.2.3 and Killjasmin 2.4
I get a small pop up window 3"x3" on the left side of my screen that closes as fast as it opens, only enough for my eye to catch that it's a window but not long enough to see what it is, any way i can find out what it is?

This happens once each time you start Firefox, or each time you open a new page, or ??
To open a recently closed window, you can try:
History menu > Recently closed windows
I'm not sure whether the most recently closed is always on top, but if that isn't the right one, you could work your way down the list.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
The window that is flashing does not show in any history at all. I will try the safe mode and check for errors and post a reply,
Also the pop up that flashes so fast I can not see what it is, happens no matter where I am at on the net, if the window is minimized I don't recall seeing it. The random pop up will continue to happen until I shut firefox down.
So I have booted in safe mode, disabled hardware acceleration, still some weird fast opening window. I did NOT do a reset as instructed, I am at a loss of this bizarre popup.
Still need help.
When you say you booted in Safe Mode, do you mean an operating system Safe Mode, or Firefox's Safe Mode?
What happens if you close Firefox, change your default browser to Safari, close Safari, and re-launch Firefox without making Firefox the default? Any difference? (Looking for possible external use of the system default browser.)
Safe mode for firefox, I will change the default browser and keep you posted
