Why can't I unselect the Save Passwords box

I use a 3rd party password manager (Norton) with Firefox and lately, Firefox keeps asking if I want to save passwords. When I go to options/security, the box is checked, but I can't deselect it because it's grayed out.

Any ideas on how to turn this feature off?
