Don't really know what else to add. I have a laptop running Windows 8. I tried re-installing Firefox, but still no luck. I just can't drag the letters -- but the game works fine when I use IE.

You may need Java to play that game.

Update the Java plugin to the latest version.

You can find the latest Java version on the Oracle website.
Firefox needs a 32 bit Java version.

See Java Platform > Java SE 7U11 and Java 6U38 (Download JRE)

Tried installing Java but still can't play. Uninstalled and reinstalled Flash. No luck. The funny thing is that I can play with ANY browser on the Mac or my husband's old laptop. Just can't play on Firefox on my new laptop -- but can play using other browsers. Also funny that a few days ago I thought I had solved the problem, as I could play for a couple of days on Firefox -- but then it quit again. It boggless my mind.

Is this a Flash or Java game?

Not sure, so I tried both. Also, I take back what I said earlier about not being able to play ONLY on Firefox. I just tried in Chrome, and I can't play on that either. Seems the only browser I CAN play on, on my laptop, is IE. So I'm thinking it's some kind of issue with Windows 8 and any browser other than IE, since that's the main difference I can think of between my new laptop and the other computers in the house -- one a Mac and the other running Vista.

One other thing, a couple of days after I filed the initial report I was able to play for one evening -- so I thought the problem was fixed. (That is the same evening I tried on Chrome, leading me to believe that there hadn't been a problem there) But the next day, it was frozen again on Firefox and today when I tried Chrome, also frozen there.

Guess I'll just play on IE when I'm on my laptop -- until they get this figured out.

I've tried everything too, I played ever since I installed firefox, then all of a sudden around Jan 12th I couldn't play any more. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything at least twice! I haven't tried chrome but I can play on IE but it is painfully slow :(

I also see the same problem with FireFox & win 8. IE sometimes works, & chrome worked for a couple dozen moves then it stopped working. The only browser I've seen work fairly consistently is Safari. Consistently has a caveat. You need to refresh the page after completing a play. If you don't refresh the page it allows you to move tiles but won't acknowledge the play. Makes tone as if acting but fails with no further indication. Note all of these browsers at the same version level work fine with Windows Pro 7.

Hello,

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Does a clean reinstall work? Including deleting the Firefox folder located in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
