The navigation toolbar icon set has "New Tab" available in FF16 and FF17 on Win XPSP3 (32bit), but this control is not in the customization set in FF17 on Win7HP (64bit). How do a get the "New Tab" control in the toolbar in Win7?

Ok, thanks. I didn't think to look at the right end of the tab bar. So it seems that now there will be no '+' tab on the tab bar.

You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.
You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button that shows as a plus sign (+) from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar New Tab button.
If you can't find the New Tab button then click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window.
If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible space to the left of it.

Sorry, that does not work. As soon as the Customize dialog is opened, the '+' tab on the tab bar disappears, so it cannot be dragged. The '+' cannot be dragged otherwise, either.

That "+" button should get moved to the far right end side of the Tab bar if you open the customize window.

Did you try to click the Restore Default Set button as posted above?

Not if you move that button to another toolbar.

The "new tab" button appears on the toolbar with this add-on BUT it doesnt work like the old FF New Tab button. I used to be able to drag links onto the button and the new page would load in the new tab. Now it doesnt work! All it does is create a new is tab.

WHERE IS MY OLD NEW TAB BUTTON??? This is why I hate to upgrade FireFox to different versions because they eliminate useful (for me) stuff and add crapware frills that I dont need.

All I want is a good stable browser that is arranged as I want with the features I want!

Dragging a link on the New Tab toolbar button (either on the Tab Bar or if you have moved it to another toolbar) on to empty space on the Tab bar still works for me to open this link in a new tab.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Firefox uses the about: protocol to access built-in about: pages that you can open via the location bar just like you open web pages.
