when running a virus scan I found that I had over 130,000 files with firefox/crashreport/pending

How do I make these go away? They take up tons of room and I think they are slowing down my computer. I have CPU intermittently spiking to 100% and I think this may be part of that problem as well (?).

If you can help make it very basic on what I need to do and how to get there. I'm a senior who is not all that tech savvy- but I can follow instruction.

Those .dmp and .extra files in the %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\Pending folder are from crash reports that were created but never submitted. I used to see those in my about:crashes list because of a Flash Player bug when Firefox closed (now fixed). Other plugins that crash without crashing Firefox can also cause this problem so you should disable or remove any plugins that you don't need (related bug: 690841). See Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems for help disabling or removing plugins.

In any case, you could try going to the about:crashes list (accessible from the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" page or by typing about:crashes in the address bar) and click on "Remove all reports" (I did find bug 583738 which says that this doesn't work for pending reports, only submitted ones, but it's worth a try).

If that doesn't work, go to the Windows "Start -> Run" box and enter the following:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports

You can then open the Pending folder and delete the contents.
