Have to try twice when loading websites

Recently I encountered a new problem. I have to try 2 or even 3 times before the website loads. It is Google as well as other sites, but not all. It usually works the 2. time, but sometimes comes out with just text, so I have to update once more in order to get the correct page.

- and it happened again, when I was posting this!

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

Thanks for your suggestions, Cor-el. After trying the links and searching the support websites, I realized that I had about a year of history saved! Cancelling most of it has helped.

I had previously set the history saving time to 20 days in the Windows control panel, but, alas! that only works for the default browser, which, unfortunately, is not Firefox (had to make a compromise with the husband).

I cannot find any possibility of setting a limited time in Firefox. As far I can see, it is all or nothing?

Perhaps I should post this as a new question.

Current Firefox versions allow no longer to set a time limit for how long to keep the history.
You will have to do that yourself in the History manager and remove older months.
