Firefox crashes when I try to clear my cache

I am using firefox 15.0.1 on OS X Lion 10.7.4.

Each time I try to clear my cache, firefox just freezes. Then I have to force quit. I tried this many times. I have no clue what to do.

Is your cache huge? My Firefox freezes for at least 30 seconds on some cache- and history-related operations.

Are you clearing your cache to solve a particular problem? Perhaps there is another way.

Try to clear (trash or delete) the cache folder on disk manually.

  • /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/

Same here. Firefox would hang on clicking the Advanced tab in Tools > Options. Solved by deleting all files in

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>.default\Cache

(Windows 7, Firefox 18)

This has been an issue with mac ever since I use Firefox. Never got solved. Up till today my Firefox consistently hangs when clearing cache. It would be nice if some FF developer had a serious look at this. It's pretty annoying, especially when developing websites.
