Reset password using "Forget your password" doesn't work.

i follow the following steps for resetting the password for ...@gmail.com, but i never receive an email from Firefox Sync either in my inbox or spam folder in ...@gmail.com

1. Click Forget my password 2. Enter "...@gmail.com" as username 3. Complete captcha which results in a confirmation page.

Yes, like foxale said. It is now fixed. I was told it was going to be fixed last night or early this morning, it actually was fixed at 2:45pm Central time today. Next time I'll wait a little longer, I just wanted to get the word out early.

So go ahead and try it again. *Crosses fingers* :P

You have to install the latest version of firefox at mozilla.org

If works its ok other wise may be your internet speed is very low contact to your isp

Edit: Do not delete your Sync account. Mozilla's Sync password reset feature is having technical difficulties and is not sending emails with the new passwords.

Please wait until they resolve this. Deleting your account will not fix this issue.


Try to delete the sync account and create a new sync account with that email address.
This will remove all data that is currently stored on the sync server.

i have the latest version of firefox on my mac and am on broadband connection so i don't think those are the issues. i have also tried getting a reset key through the firefox sync account page, but that hasn't worked either.

i no longer have a machine that's logged into the firefox sync account which i why i'm trying to reset the password.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too have this problem. Its simple, the password reset function is broken again.

kdzhu & foxale, you both are right. Sync's reset password feature is broken at the moment.

Foxale is also right when he says Sync is broken again. This happened once before in March 2011 (the reason it broke was never explained). And my gut tells me it will happen again next year.

I found a bug where the issue is being tracked and as soon as a fix is posted there I'll update this post. It looks like the server that sends the emails is offline or having some other sort of technical issue. I can't say for sure b/c I don't work for Mozilla.

Anyway, even the Mozilla employees themselves are unable to get their password reset emails. So take comfort in knowing that you aren't the only one with this problem. :) As far as how soon you can expect a fix? I didn't see any timetable for that. I'll let you know if that changes.

Update: I've heard from the Mozilla developers that a fix for the broken Sync password reset was finished last night. It should be working now.

Let us know if you still can not reset the password so we can let them know.

Please try again. The bug was just marked as resolved not too long ago. I was able to receive a reset email.
