Version 15 continues to display the Google Chrome blue bar but v14 didn't once I clicked "no thanks". How to do get rid of the Google blue bar?

On Google homepage there is a blue bar that reads - "Discover a faster way to browse the web. Install Google Chrome No thanks".

My previous version of Firefox, v14 something, would not display this blue bar once I selected "No thanks".

the "No thanks" has no effect on Firefox v15.

Just registered to post this advice for those who want to get rid of the annoying google blue pop-up. I recommend using Ad-Block Plus for this purpose. When you're on Google and the blue thing pops-up, click on the Ad-Block Plus logo in the left bottom side of your Firefox and select "open blockable items". There block all (or the once that you spot to be the source of the pop-up) scripts. This should help.

Google must really want you. But seriously, such preferences usually are remembered with cookies. If you haven't changed anything about how you're managing cookies since your upgrade, perhaps your cookies have become corrupted in some manner?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

2. Remove your google.com cookies in this dialog:

While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page and dismissing the box again. Does that help?

Google uses localStorage to store that choice and not a regular cookie.

Thank you. Your reply didn't exactly fix it but it got me on the correct track. Thank you very much! I opened AdBlock Plus and selected show blockable items on this page and clicked on each of them to show me what they were and were not. Selected the correct one and the Blue Bar of Distraction is gone.

Just wanted to follow-up and warn that application of AdBlock Plus has two cons: (1) it does not resolve the ubiquitous blue bar issue with Google's homepage in other countries (like .ru, .se etc) - you will need to apply the same method with those site individually; (2) it will affect those who have more than one Gmail account and regularly navigate between them by using "add account" - the method will NOT make that impossible, but you will not be able to see which other Gmail accounts you are signed in, and you will either have to keep all these open or re-add every time you close the appropriate account and then want to come back and re-open it.
