AVAST update takes over Firefox Browser w-its browser windows every 2 min. Help!
AVAST has been, for me, a horror of virus protection. I bought the internet security version (3 licenses) to protect banking info - & today on my laptop at home I innocently allowed it to update. Now it has installed something called SafeZone, that I can't seem to turn off. It automatically turns on multiple browser windows ON TOP of my Firefox 13.0.1 (which I love) & this occurs literally every 2 or 3 minutes..even while typing here it's done it at least 3 times. At the office, I have to turn OFF Avast so my printers will work AT ALL. I've tried their tech support. No answer to multiple requests. I tried to log in tonight & none of my previous passwords work. I found the original email showing confirmation of my purchase in March, but google can't Show it so I can make copy& send it to them (somehow) - It is NOT my default browser. FIREFOX is my default. So what can I do? Any ideas? This is awful.

No your answer did NOT solve my problem. But Thanks for your advice & I understand this is not a Firefox problem. I have registered & posted in the user forum - Avast has been nothing but a headache. I am going to use its uninstall feature (I just took it out of Taskmanager applications, but of course I can't pull it out of processes). Lucky(?) for me - I am exec dir of a non-profit & just bought Norton via TechSoup very cheap, so will dispose of Avast asap & install Norton. I just hope it doesn't do the same thing. I can't even ask a Q on the Avast website - because it won't accept any of the passwords I have listed here at home. I KNOW I've communicated with them multiple times from my office & got zero replies from support. I'm also going to try a system restore next. What a miserable program! going to restart this computer - the Avast browser windows STILL came up despite trying to eliminate it via task manager while I typed this. It brings up layers of browser windows - 12 or 13 - & I have to eject them. bah humbug.

Sorry to hear that you are having those problems with Avast, but there isn't much that we as Firefox support volunteers can do to help you - beyond recommending that you use a different, more simple AV free program which doesn't offer "bells & whistle" features.
Have you tried the Avast user support forum for help?
