I set Google as my homepage. The next time I open it, Google opens as my homepage, but the next time I open it, it goes back to Firefox. Why will it not stay as

After I have set Google as my homepage, it will not stay as my homepage. The first time I open Firefox after having set Google as my homepage, it will work. But the next time I open Firefox, it is back to opening the Firefox homepage. How do I get it to stay as Google?
