Firefox won't connect to servers despite all troubleshooting measures taken.
Just today I upgraded to FireFox 13.0.1. Now no matter what I try it continuously states that it is unable to connect to the server of whatever site I punch in. I tried every article I could find that might help but still doesn't work. I checked my connection and it's fine and other browsers. I really like FireFox and would hate to have to switch because of this. I'm currently operating on Windows Vista if that makes any difference. Anyone who can maybe help thanks.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You probably tried this article, but just in case: Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can.
Could you try the "Reset" option? This option copies certain of your key settings to a new settings folder (a new Firefox profile). If the new profile doesn't work any better, you can switch back to the original. If it does work, you can either rebuild your add-ons collection, or take that as a sign that your original profile has a problematic add-on or setting yet to be discovered.
- Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
- Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles - you can switch among profiles, too, without removing anything
Tried all of the links you posted and still nothing. Thanks all the same .

@cor-el , I've already tried my firewall settings. It doesn't ask about access or anything after it's deleted from the list. I've tried this method four or five times now. I'm currently scanning for any damage to my computer that may be causing problems and a full system scan has turned up nothing for malware. Really the only thing I haven't looked at are the dns prefetch settings. I've restarted the computer. I thought avg might be the problem so I uninstalled it. I've reset FireFox, started a new profile, etc. My connection is good. I've looked elsewhere over the internet to see if there have been others with the exact same issue and I'm not turning up anything. I'm not really sure what else I can do. I'm still on Vista Sp1 but I don't know if that matters. Either way I thank you for the response.
Ok guys problem solved. It turns out that the Norton anti virus that I had thought I deleted completely from my computer years ago still had a web application still running and I didn't know about it. I deleted it and things are back to normal.
