how do I remove thumbnails from new tabs? This feature appeared on latest update and I don't want it.
After a new update this morning all new tabs that I open appear with thumbnails of previously visited website. I do NOT want this feature. Please advise how to turn it off. Thank you

The second link referenced in the previous reply is misleading and not altogether correct. The link states that thumbnails disappear if you clear the cache. While this is true, one would expect that, after you clear cache, thumbnails would be regenerated in a new session as the links are used to visit the tabbed sites. This is not always the case. If you have checked 'Cache' in the 'Clear history when Firefox closes' under 'Privacy' in the Preferences, you will never see thumbnails. In fact, if you check that box during a session, thumbnails disappear immediately and new ones will not appear. If you then uncheck the box, the thumbnails immediately reappear -- without having to revisit the sites.

Here is how to turn it off!!!
In address bar go to- about:config
Scroll down to: browser.chrome.site_icons
set value to: FALSE.

You can create a new Boolean pref browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled on the about:config page and set the value to true if you want to disable the thumbnails on the about:newtab page altogether.
