I don't get any alert sounds when i receive a new message in Facebook. Is this a problem or simply something not offered on Firefox?

In other browsers, I get a small "bloop" sound when someone messages me in Facebook. When I have a different tab open, I can also see that someone messaged me running across the Facebook tab. I don't get either of these with Firefox, so I have no way of knowing if I have a new message without staying on the Facebook tab the whole time. Is there something I can do to fix this or is it simply a feature not offered by Firefox?

Hi jclark735, Do you have sound in videos and other sites? Is it only Facebook that you don't get sound? You might have accidentally muted audio for Firefox. The article Knowledge Base article What to do if Firefox won't play any sounds will show you how to check.

Hopefully this helps!

Matt_G, I just tried messing with the volume controls but nothing fixed it. Sound and video on other sites works just fine. I'm still trying to figure out whether this is a problem with Facebook, Firefox, or my computer. Thanks
