Problem about my homepage
Hi guys, i decided to post this because i already exhausted all the skills that i know when it comes to resetting my homepage to my preferred homepage. I did all the troubleshooting and i also uninstalled and reinstalled my browser. I am currently using Aurora 13.0a2 the latest version. This website http://home.sweetim.com keeps on popping on my browser every time open it even though i already changed my home into my preferred homepage which is Google. So if anyone who has the same problem or anyone who has vast knowledge in resetting my homepage into Google, i would really appreciate your help.

Installing Babylon will have that effect. If you have Babylon installed on your system, you need to remove it following the same instructions (Steps 1-4 posted above) substituting "Babylon" for "SweetIM" in the instructions posted above.
browser.startup.homepage http://www.sweetim.com
Reset that preference in about:config using the steps in #3. above sustituting "browser.startup.homepage" for "keyword.URL"
Advice: Loading your browser with toolbars and installing programs like SweetIM on your system can cause the types of problems that you are having. Avoid doing so, to avoid having problems like those you are currently experiencing.
You may need to create a new profile and install your needed Extensions, leaving out all of the "trash" toolbars and other extensions:

- Remove SweetIM from the installed programs/applications on your system:
- With Firefox closed (Firefox button > Exit OR File > Exit if using the Menu Bar), go to Windows Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, locate and click on the item, click "Remove"; reboot your computer if instructed to do so.
- Also see:
- Reset your home page (if the SweetIM search page is displayed when starting Firefox): http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
- You can reset to the default by clicking "Restore to default" on Options > General > Startup > Home page. Be sure to set "When Firefox starts" to "Show my home page" on that same panel.
- Reset your Location Bar search engine (if typing a few words in the URL/Location Bar takes you to SweetIM search):
- type about:config in your Location Bar, like typing a web site address, and press the Enter key
- ignore warning and choose to continue
- in Filter, type keyword.URL
- in lower part of screen, if it is bold and shows "user set", right-click keyword.URL and choose "Reset"
- in Filter, type SweetIM
- any items in lower part of screen in bold and showing "user set", right-click and choose "Reset"
- close about:config tab

- If SweetIM is shown in your Search Bar and you want to remove it:

Well, I did all the basic troubleshooting, I even tried uninstalling Firefox (aurora) and install it again and I also followed your step three (3) but still nothing happens the website still pops up. I also installed a Malware removing tool coz maybe its a malware that is affecting this but still again it keeps on coming back.
I checked also the programs and there is no SweetIM program installed in my system
Uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it will not solve the problem. The affects on Firefox are controlled by the program being installed on your system and with similar programs/applications, the toolbar, homepage, etc., are changed in Firefox, usually through the Windows registry. Removing the program from your system should remove the registry entries.
Is SweetIM in your Firefox Add-ons > Extensions ? (see below about their instructions for uninstalling from Firefox and my comment about their instructions simply hiding their toolbar and not removing the thing from your system).
What is the home page setting when you go to keyword.URL in about:config?
- Is that item shown in bold and user-set?
- Did you reset that item?
- After you reset the item and restart Firefox, check keyword.URL again to see if the change is "sticking". If the change is not being retained, see:
Where I got my info.
- From the SweetIM site ( http://lp.sweetim.com/?lpver=86 ) bottom of page choose uninstall;
- the uninstall list includes instructions for
- IE (complete uninstall from the system) and
- Firefox (only hides the toolbar installed in Firefox Add-ons > Extensions; does not remove SweetIM from your system). Generally, the toolbar is installed through the registry by the program being installed on your system.
- SweetIM home/download page --> http://lp.sweetim.com/?lpver=86
- SweetIM uninstall page --> http://www.sweetim.com/uninstall/help_uninstall.asp
The other instructions (steps 2-4) are things to check after uninstalling depending on your situation.

I think that is the best solution for this problem coz i have another profile and i have also aurora on that profile.., the big difference is it doesn't have that sweetIm thing.. anyway, i'll be doing that later since it's already late.. I click on "SOLVE IT" if i have transferred all my files to the other profile.. thank you
