Why does Update to Firefox 11 made my AVG internet safety incompatible?

I received a notice from Firefox after updating to Firefox 11 that my AVG Resident Shield is incompatible. I attempted update on AVG, but none is available. I would think that there would be coordination with AVG, before asking to upgrade Firefox. This is a time waster and is inconceivable for me.

Do you mean the AVG toolbar/link scanner? AVG is responsible for updating their own software to make sure it works with new versions of Firefox. According to AVG, http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=195993#post_195993, they will add support for Firefox 11 with their next update. When that update is, I'm not sure. you can try posting in their forums, but hopefully they will have an update for their software soon.

In a Chat with Firefox, I was told that I could go back to Firefox 10.3, downloading it from download.com. But all they give me is Firefox 11. I'm not sure of a complete change backwards, as to what it will do. I would think Firefox would have an available Downdate, to revert the Update. This is a real pain. If Firefox jumps ahead offering an Update and doesn't consider a company such as AVG, that's poor. Coordination is essential!

Like i said, Firefox updates are released every six weeks, AVG just failed to update their software in time.

Downgrading to an older version of Firefox is not at all recommended as it will leave you exposed to several major security holes. I would simply wait for the AVG update which will probably come out with the next few days.

I see the sense in your advice, but it steams me that this has happened, I believe needlessly. There had to be updates before, but who dropped the ball this time?

Thanks for your input, Tyler. I'll simply have to be super careful in browsing.
