How do you take and backup the bookmarks in Firefox 11.0 being there is nothing under the menu's of where to go. Also how do you restore a backup in version 11

Chosen solution

I have just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and by default it comes with Firefox 11.0. In the Show All Bookmarks >> Library window, the Backup/Restore button does NOT exist.

I have the .JSON file with all my saved bookmarks from my previous version. What can I do to restore them???

This article from the Mozilla knowledge base shows how to do this - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Backing-up-restoring-bookmarks

That article takes and shows how to restore etc but the version the article is on is not version 11.0 there is no option in 11.0 under bookmarks to organize, import or backup like in earlier versions of firefox. Need to know how to backup firefox 11.0

OK never mind justook and found it in version 11.0, you need to take and goto bookmarks, then when the bookmarks display on the very top click on Show All Bookmarks and a window will open like in older versions to backup and restore etc

I guess Firefox messed up big time by changing the menu items. Organize bookmarks make more sense. I am going back to firefox 3.6.12. My message to firefox designers is that keep it simple stupid(KISS). if you do update or in new release bring more improvement on performance and other parameters but keep menu items as it is.

I have actually figured it out in Firefox 11 for backing the bookmarks/restoring them. You just need to go and goto your bookmarks, and Click on show all bookmarks from the very top and a window opens up to allow you to backup and restore bookmarks.

This is exactly what does NOT work in my Firefox. I have gone to the BOOKMARKS in the top menu, chosen OPEN ALL BOOKMARKS which opens the LIBRARY window and the Backup/Restore button simply does not exist. I have Firefox 11.0 on my Windows computer, and there, in the LIBRARY window, the Backup/Restore button DO exist. What do I do??? Why does it not exist in Ubuntu 12.04 Firefox?

Not sure why it don't work with the version of the Ubuntu 12.04 Firefox other then maybe still in Beta. But are you using windows XP or windows Vista, windows 7? Also you said you had Firefox 11.0 does the copy you have , up in the upper LEFT Corner have a red button that says Firefox on it? Or is the bookmarks just along the top menu bar? If you want to take and take a screen shot if you have a program to take and do so and upload a screenshot image. If you need a program for taking screenshots let me know and will send you a link to a FREE program which I use and is easy to use

nanceal,
Maybe your problem is the integration of the Gnome or Unity Desktop and the Firefox User Interface in Ubuntu. Try clicking in the strip at the top of the bookmarks library adjacent to where it says Library. Do the options then appear ?

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 with Gnome(edit I posted a Unity example) Desktop and Firefox 11 so my setup will not be identical to yours. I have attached a screenshot .
