How do I stop my history tab from opening when I click a link that opens in a new window?
Whenever I click hrefs lately, the new window opens with the history pane open. I cannot figure out how to disable this.

I did not commit any further actions after activating Safe Mode except to restart in normal mode. It resolved the issue.

Sounds that you had a problem with a corrupted localstore.rdf file.
