Why can I only run firefox as administrator - related to zonealarm
This has happenned frequently usually after an update, it is causing security problems as I now have a virus that has taken advantage of this situation.
This appears to be a consistent fault throught the firefox life cycle, I will not run as administrator and if it cannot be fixed will move to a different browser

Hi
Thanks cor-el for your response, I did check all the security out, but it appears to be a problem with zonealarm, and the browser virtualisation I fixed it by.
1. switch off browser virtualisation in zonealarm. 2. Load firefox. 3. Switch on browser virtualisation in zonealarm 4. Unload firefox. 5. Load firefox.
and it now works OK, I do not think it is related to virtual data as I had previously cleared this a few times before.
Do not even think about asking the next question.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
- Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
- "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
If that doesn't solve the problem then remove the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and do a clean reinstall with a fresh downloaded Firefox copy.
