I want to get rid of tabs-I turned them off in options but they are still there. How can I get rid of them?

I don't want tabs. I turned them off in the options menu but they just open anyway. What is the option for ,and why does Firefox insist I have tabs? I hate them! They suck!

Sorry, there is no setting or preference in Firefox to turn off tabs completely.
