How "Secure" is the Firefox Browser?

more options

Dear Sirs:

I ran across the following "horseshit" site from Microsoft that rates Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) 4 out of 4 then berates Firefox and the Google Chrome browsers at 2.5 out of 4 when it comes to Internet Browser Security:

http://www.yourbrowsermatters.com/#/browser-score

I personally can't believe how Microsoft cannot admit that they have ANY Security Issues in Microsoft Internet Explorer. Do they really think that people are that stupid to take everything they say as "Fact"? They don't fool me with their "smoke and mirrors" trash!

Internet Explorer doesn't even offer an automatic update feature at all. Microsoft is always been Reactive not Proactive when it comes to fixing security holes in their software.

When you do get an update to Internet Explorer you are FORCED to reboot the computer. Not very user friendly!

Microsoft seems to drag its' feet when it comes to fixing "Security Holes" in MSIE!

Every time that I launch Firefox at home or work, Firefox checks for version updates that addresses things such as "Security Issues", "Bug Fixes", and new features then I am notified when there is an update available.

So the truth is that Firefox handles fixing "Security Holes" and issues much better and much faster that Microsoft!

No Internet Browser rates 100% on a Secure Scale but I find that Firefox comes closest to that rating than MSIE ever will.

Firefox comes out with some excellent features well before MSIE will ever come out with them... Simple stuff like the Tabbed browsing took Microsoft way too long to add to MSIE.

NoScript add-on and other free community add-ons have been extremely helpful in Firefox. Even those are updated more often than MSIE!!!

Thank you for an excellent Internet Browser called "Firefox", BillNew Senior Software Engineer for over 34 years

Chosen solution

Probably not the best place to discuss this, it may be considered off topic. I may be biased as a Firefox user but I think we do very well even comparing with IE and acknowledging that IE has made significant improvements itself over the years.

There will be discussion of this subject elsewhere on the web, and my conclusions are that the article mentioned is a thinly disguised unbalanced promotional article biased in favour of IE.

Thank you for your Feedback.

I too use Firefox and was more than just a bit surprised to see that trash from Microsoft slamming Firefox and Chrome.

Reality is that Microsoft has lost touch with reality when it comes to Internet Explorer. Yes, I will agree that they have improved SOME but they are too slow to follow Firefox's lead when it comes to making major improvements to their clunky and security hole laden product.

Thank you for the 2 links.

Firefox is a secure browser. But a lot of addons let you make it more secure. Here is a great toolbox for secure and private browsing : Secure & Private Web Browsing with Firefox
