My present Firefox is version 9.0.1 since update when I click on Back button after filling in web form or making online payment etc., I can't go back to my main page, if I press BACK BUTTON (arrow mark) a message says " Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier".

I do not want to re-order or repeat the process already finished. The only thing I can do is to exit Firefox and start again which is very painful.

Any solution will be appreciated.

Older Firefox also had that message coming up in case you used Back to go to a page that was requested from the server with specific POST data from a form previously send.

You get an alert about resending POST data if you go back to a page or refresh a page that was previously requested from the server by submitting form data via a (hidden) POST form.
Firefox can only make sure to get the same page by resending that POST form.
Firefox doesn't know what that form data means, so Firefox asks for confirmation before resending that form data as such an action can cause you to repeat an action and buy another item or post a message another time.
A way to prevent that pop-up is not to use the Back button, but to open links from a page that was requested from a server by sending a POST form in a new tab (window) with a middle-click or a Ctrl + left-click.
Then you can close that tab or window to go back.

Open the tab history of that tab by holding down the left mouse button and select the entry at the bottom to go back to the first page.

Use one of these methods to open the tab history list:

  • Right click on the Back or Forward button
  • Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens

Is this method a progress for Firefox browser? Or it is free that is why users are supposed to go through problem each time if there is an update.

I appreciate your reply. Thank you.

I am repeating the steps so you or someone can understand what I wanted to say . Last time , I opened Firefox on web I was reading a news, I saw by filling an e-mail address I can get the news by e-mail, I clicked the tab, which started a new page to fill in desired information.( at this stage only one web page is opened remember please)after filling in the information I clicked on send button. In an other new page it confirmed information is submitted.(still only one page is opened) From here, I wanted to go back the page where I was reading news or I should say Home. But in Firefox I can not go back that is why I had asked a question. If like previous version, there are two or three tab(pages)opened then easily can move from one to another page but right now not possible. But as I am getting answer to my problem may be it work.

I appreciate those who have answers in this regard so far. Thank you

Isn't there a link on the page that you can use to got to the home page of that site?

If Firefox thinks that it needs to resend POST data if you use the Back button then there is not much that you can do. If you only entered some login data like a name and password, but haven't done any action to send (compose) a message or have send other data to that server then there is no need not to (re)send that POST data and use the Back button if you do not want to open a new tab.

Interesting thing is I stopped using MS Internet explorer but after this Firefox trouble I checked the same website with MS IE after doing the same steps(with different e-mail)I easily moved back to home page.

Anyway thank you so much for reply I appreciate that very much.

Firefox checks on the server if the file has been modified if you use the back button.
If the page was requested by sending post data to the server then Firefox sends that post data and asks for confirmation.
You can try to use the tab history of the Back button skip sites that require sending post data.

You can also try if it works if you set to never check the server by setting the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency pref to 2.
