Bookmarks missing from sidebar

After a recent upgrade to v. 9.0.1, the bookmarks that normally appear in my sidebar disappeared. They haven't disappeared totally as I can access them from the Bookmarks tab and they continue to reside on the Xmarks server. I just can't see them when I launch the Bookmarks sidebar. Xmarks Tech Support suggest it's a Firefox problem. Can you help?

Please try this once you have the latest set synchronized to Xmarks: Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information > Open Containing Folder. Exit Firefox and in the opened folder, rename the places.sqlite file, start Firefox and Ctrl + B.

Thanks for the reply Vivek.Wilfred I tried Safe Mode and the Bookmarks Sidebar remains empty. I've also removed and reinstalled Firefox and the problem persists. I'm running the same version of Firefox on a Windows 7 machine at home and the bookmarks are present so it has to be a problem with the configuration on my office machine (Vista).

Amazing! This worked and bookmarks are now present in my Sidebar (not sure why). Thanks so much Vivek.Wilfred for your help!

You are welcome :)

It could be that the places .sqlite file which holds the bookmarks and history became slightly corrupt.
