I downloaded Mozilla Firefox version 9.0.1 and now, at start-up, I don't have a toolbar that gives me ready access (by clicking on) to gmail, finance information, world news and many other sites. Where did it go and how do I get it back My operating system is 32 bit Windows XP

Hi waters, thank you for choosing my previous answer as the solution.

Google has yet to complete the deployment of the new Google Bar to all its users. Even I have not yet received it though in some of my machines where I logged in (usually in Internet Explorer) it appears.

Cheers!

Hi waters, I would assume the toolbar you're referring to is your bookmark toolbar. You can view and have it back by selecting it in View > Toolbars > Bookmark Toolbars

For more information about Firefox toolbars, go to https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/how-do-i-customize-toolbars?s=hide+toolbar&r=0&as=s

Hope that helps

No it did not solve my question. The toolbar I have had in the past, at start up, but don't have now contains these titles: +you Web Images Videos Maps News Shopping Gmail More and if you click on "more" you get a bunch more, including Finance

Oh I see. I think you're referring to the Google bar which late November (or early this month) was redesigned. Instead of seeing the black bar on top that contains Gmail, Calendar and other links, they decided to make it as a drop down list. Here's the official blog from Google about it.

The start page of Firefox has the word "Google" in 2 places. Clicking on either one produces nothing - at least on my screen. The start page of Chrome still has that "black bar" on top that has all the links I want on the Firefox start page. I guess I'll just use Chrome. Thanks for your efforts.

I really appreciate your response but remained confused - my normal state. "Phasing in" the distribution of a new tool bar makes no sense to me whatsoever. Sounds pretty "amateurish" to me and why do I learn this from you and not Mozilla? I did have a toolbar type display down the left side of my screen a few weeks ago. It was great but then it disappeared for no reason known to me. Guess I'll just keep using Chrome, switch to Opera or whatever. Thanks for your help.

I lost the black Gmail link on the Firefox start page, but I've created my own: 1. Right click under but not on the red close button [top right corner] 2. check that the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' is selected with tick, if not left click it & this Toolbar should appear. 3. Right click any 'Bookmarks Toolbar' links not wanted & left click on delete to remove. 4. To add Gmail to the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' : R click & copy the gmail web address after logging into your account. R click the space on the right side of the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' & L click 'New Bookmark'. R Click & paste the gmail address into the 'Location' box and type Gmail or similar into the 'Name' box. [your bookmark label] L Click 'Add' and a new Gmail link will appear in the 'Bookmarks Toolbar'.

Hope this helps.
