I have found the site where you are supposed to beable to run a "downgraded" firefox but when I downloaded it and the installer came up it would not move forward unless I upgraded to the new 10 point something.

I am running windows 7 premier edition, 64 bit. Am pretty junior to computers so if anyone can help please be very specific and do it point by point, lol.

You can install the portable Firefox 3.6.x version to access websites that do not work with Firefox 5+.

Just checking:

  1. Do you try to downgrade, because you had problems upgrading to the latest version? If so, have you tried the suggestions at Install an older version of Firefox?
  2. What is the actual message, when installing Firefox 3.6? Does it really mention that you need install version 10? Note that the latest version is 9.0.1.
  3. Did you download the installer from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html ?

I thought portable meant on your blackberry or ipad etc.. I can use this for my laptop as well?

Yes, to all your questions. When the "Installer" pops up it guides you to the "next" position. When I do that the "Installer" says "upgrade to continue". It does not give you the option not to upgrade. Basically it is saying that I can not move forward to enstalling my program unless I upgrade.

That portable Firefox version is meant to run on a normal desktop or laptop computer. For a mobile device you would need a different Firefox version specially for that device.

That portable version has its own profile folder is completely independent from Firefox versions installed elsewhere on the computer.
Using the portable version is the easiest way to run multiple Firefox versions.

Otherwise you need to do a custom install of other versions each in their own program folder and create a separate profile folder for each version.
