Firefox crashed after trying to clear browser cache & cookies and now it hangs every time I open.

Update: I used the wrong term in the question. It FREEZES rather than crashed. I have to force-quit. Hope this clear things up.

I followed instruction from a Yahoo Mail agent (in a yahoo-related issue with their mail) to clear cache & cookies on "Everything" (time range). That crashed Firefox. Now every time I reopen, it gives the error message and an option to restore or start new session, but as soon as I click on ANYTHING, it hangs.

Apparently, my user profile was corrupted. Deleted the Profiles folder, dumped FF, did a clean install and it works like a charm. I backed up the Profiles, but am afraid to add it back because I don't know what corrupted. It seems my attempt to clear cache and cookies triggered something...

I did. It does not. (There are also so many links and issues that are sort of related but doesn't help, and it gets really confusing.) Which is why I posted a question.
