Lost Bookmarks and I have tried everything I can find. When I follow the steps to restore I get a pop-up that states "unable to process file". How can I find and rebuild this file?

I shut the laptop down on Thursday night and on Friday morning all of my bookmarks are gone. I went to help and I have tried the restore. I get the message "unable to process file" on every past restore date I chose. I even tried updated from 6 to 7 to see if that would help.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
