All flash videos and flash-based websites no longer work in my Firefox browser. After being prompted to install the plugin and restarting the browser flash still does not work, or even show up in the installed plugins list. As far as I can tell It's not a problem with Adobe Flash as I can still use it with Google Chrome.

Chosen solution

FYI - IE, Firefox and Chrome all use different versions of the Flash player so working in 1 browser means nothing for the others.

I would download the installer, close Firefox, uninstall Flash (from Programs and Features), restart the computer, and try the installer.

Are you installing the 32bit version? Even if your OS is 64bit, Firefox is 32bit, so you need the 32bit version of Flash. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

The Adobe website says that the installer contains both 32bit and 64bit versions. I did try and manually select the 32 bit version though; the result was that it would not finish the installation process, saying the "the application is currently in use".

Did you close Firefox before running the installer?

Haha, of course. I even had task manager open to make sure the process was closed.
